Decentralised Finance is a generic term that describes the move away from traditional finance (banks, insurance companies, fiat currencies, exchanges, loans, payments etc) that relies upon central authorities to manage towards a decentralised world where these functions are performed without a central authority mediated through blockchain and smart contract technology.
